« La question de voter ou non ne porte aucun enjeu. Je suis un abstentionniste non-prosélyte. Je ne fustigerai pas un votant, pas plus que je ne tiendrai un non-votant pour un camarade. Le vote ne devient un sujet que si les votants en font un sujet. C'est souvent le cas. Nombre de votants aspergent de sermons les non-votants. taxés d’incivisme, d’irresponsabilité, d’immaturité, d’individualisme. Les non-votants manquent à leur devoir de citoyens. Ils galvaudent la souveraineté politique qui leur a été gracieusement offerte par la démocratie. C'est ici qu'on est soudain tenté d'entrer dans le débat. De montrer aux électeurs ce qu'ils font quand ils élisent. D'observer qu'alors ils font tout sauf de la politique. » François Bégaudeau
